Ajibola Akanji

Ajibola Anthony Akanji Esq. PhD is a multidisciplinary scholar with degrees in Law and social sciences. He is Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and Legal Adviser to the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria.

He is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, and adjunct at the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria. His research is primarily focused on the intersection of law, social solidarity economy and sustainable development. He is an associate with Olujimi & Akeredolu, legal practitioners and notaries, Nigeria.

He is one of two representatives of Africa region on the Cooperative Law Committee of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), global.

He has at different times being selected as national expert for Nigeria on cooperatives and the social solidarity economy by the ICA and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

He currently serves as a coordinator of the Cooperative Working group of the Young Scholars Initiative. Amongst others, he served as co-authored of a global report “International Legal Research & Analysis Initiative on Housing Cooperatives” for the ICA and Cooperative Housing International and equally served as a national expert for Nigeria on the same project. He has published extensively on law, cooperatives and sustainable development.
