Valtencir Mendes

Valtencir Mendes is Head of Education and Senior Specialist at the UNESCO Regional Office in Santiago and Office for UN Coordination in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In this role, he coordinates regional initiatives aimed at strengthening education systems across Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with UNESCO offices, governments and strategic partners.

His work focuses on education policy, innovation, inclusion and digital transformation. He has also led regional initiatives related to artificial intelligence in education and the development of more inclusive and resilient education systems.

Mendes holds a European Doctorate from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the University of Glasgow and has extensive experience leading research and programmes in educational innovation.
