Danilo Salerno

Danilo Salerno is Regional Director of Cooperatives of the Americas, the regional organization of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), since 2018. He also acts as ICA’s focal point for global partnerships with FAO, IFAD and WFP.

In 2025, during the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives, he served as Executive Secretary of the Regional Committee of Partner Organizations for the Americas, promoting collaboration among UN agencies, governments and other regional partners. Since 2026, he has also served on the Board of the Fund for International Cooperative Development.

Born in Italy, Salerno has extensive experience in the cooperative movement and in building partnerships among governments, international organizations, civil society and development actors. He has worked with cooperative and social economy organizations across Latin America and Africa.

He holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Bologna and postgraduate qualifications in nonprofit management, European project management, international relations and Latin American studies.
