Hagen Henrÿ

Hagen Henrÿ is Professor Emeritus at the University of Helsinki, where he continues to work as a Visiting Scholar. Following his studies in law and development in Germany, Switzerland, France and Finland, and his judicial training in Germany, he served as Legal Adviser to the German Federal Government, Head of the Cooperatives Service at the International Labour Organization (ILO), and Director of Research at the University of Helsinki.

Since 1994, Henrÿ has provided consultancy on cooperative policy and law in and for some 80 countries, working with numerous governmental and non-governmental organisations. He coordinates the International Cooperative Alliance’s Cooperative Law Committee and is a member of several scientific associations and editorial and scientific boards of academic journals.

Many of his numerous publications, lectures and teaching activities focus on how to translate cooperative principles into legal rules in a way that complies with the legal principle of sustainable development. In addition to cooperative law, he continues to teach comparative law.
